All these folks who don’t like even so much as seeing certain tags?
There’s AO3 extensions for you. I am literally using one right now. For both my Chrome browser on my desktop, and my Firefox browser on my phone. It allows me to blacklist certain tags, ships, even authors who incur your wrath.
Look at that. It’s twentygayteen and we have not only a robust tagging system in AO3, but hard working, selfless folks have coded extensions to give you even further options to customize your fanfiction reading experience. Mine’s even got a simple rating system.
Hate the fic and never want to so much as see it again? Click the Angry Flame Face. Look:
That’s the size of the whole fic card thing. No summary. No tags. No title. No author’s name. It’s just blocked.
If you blacklist, it collapses the fic to the size above, but will tell you which tag it’s blocked for. Easy peasy.
I have no idea what happens when you dub a fic an Ecstatic Star Face. Because I haven’t used bookmarks for fics for over thirteen years and I have no idea what one would use them for. (I know it’s to save favorites, but… I’ve just never done that.)
But yeah, this extension is called AO3rdr. I’m almost positive that using it would be much better for your stress levels than getting angry at something someone has written that you don’t have to read.
