Penny Writes Romance…. TELLING JASE, A Love Is Always Write Story

OK. I know I haven’t been blogging much in the last two months, (SORRY!) and this is the reason why. I have been writing, just not book reviews. For the first time since well, college, I sat down to write a fiction story. I spent two months slaving away, spending all the time I could outside of work on my laptop, and managed to come up with a approx 15,000 word short story. (If you don’t know what 15,000 words looks like, that’s about 30 pages in MS Word). It was an eye-opening experience for me, to say the least. I had no idea going into it how much work my little story would entail! I ate like crap, I skipped working out, and I skipped sleeping. I also managed to kill a couple pretty hardy house plants. I am so grateful to my wonderful husband who took care of me and made sure the cats got fed and the house didn’t fall apart! I have a new respect for all writers, and a better idea of how much time it could take for me to complete a longer project. I learned so much from doing this. As crazy as it was, I really enjoyed writing it, and am both nervously and excitedly awaiting my story’s release. Here’s a little info from the M/M Romance Group about the Love is Always Write project.

What Is Love Is Always Write?

The Goodreads M/M Romance group invited members to choose a photo and pen a letter or prompt asking for a short M/M romance story inspired by the image; authors from the group were encouraged to select a letter or prompt and write an original tale. The result was an outpouring of creativity that shined a spotlight on the special bond between M/M romance writers and the people who love what they do.

If you’d like to view the photo, please feel free to join the Goodreads M/M Romance group (http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/2…) and visit the discussion section: Love Is Always Write.

Whether you are an avid M/M romance reader or new to the genre, you are in for a delicious treat.

So, here is the story prompt for my story TELLING JASE, that one of the people in the group came up with:

STORY PROMPT:

“I’m leaving, I’m tired of you, your family and that little brat. I had enough”

“Little brat? That’s your son you are talking about, our son.”

“I never wanted him anyway. I’m not the house wife type”

One drunken night was all it took. I’ve never loved her, but I will die for my little boy.

Now that she is out of my life, could I finally have the life I always wanted with the only one I’ve ever loved?

STORY DESCRIPTION: TELLING JASE tells the story of Sean Taggert, who has been in love with his best friend and former college roommate Jase Shaw for the last two years and nine months. He’s never told Jase how he feels, though. There were always other people in the way. Up until six months ago, Jase was shacked up with his cheating college boyfriend Marcus. Up until last night, Sean was engaged to the mother of his two-year old child, Cody. Cody may have been the result of a drunken one-night stand, but Sean would do anything for his son, including marry a woman he doesn’t love. But when Sean’s fiancée Lisa, calls him from her New York vacation to say that she’s left him and Cody for good, Sean calls Jase, the only person he knows who can get him though this.  Now that they are both free, maybe it’s finally time for Sean to tell Jase how he really feels.

TELLING JASE will be released sometime in June, 2012 (I think) and will be posted to: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/888161-penny-wilder-telling-jase . Please note that this story does contain explicit sexual content and is for mature audiences only. Right now, you do need to be a member of the M/M Romance Group on Goodreads to read the story. If you love M/M Romances I highly recommend you join. They are a such an amazing group of people. I believe the story will be available to the public as an e-book later in the year as part of an anthology of all of the stories from the Love is Always Write project. I will post updates as I hear about release dates.

Author: Penny Wilder

Penny Wilder is a queer human who writes and reads far too many books. She lives near Minneapolis, Minnesota with her husband and four cats. Her favorite thing to do at the end of a very long day is to curl up with her tablet and read. She does bookkeeping for nonprofits by day, and by night moonlights as a blogger, artist, illustrator, actor, director, performer, and also sometimes as a business manager for a fledgling theater company. (Not all at once though, because that would be crazy!) She has spent a good deal of her life working in theater; either onstage as a performer, or backstage doing just about every job imaginable. Her love of writing dates back almost as far as her love of reading.
